A TEXT-BASED UNIT OF WORK TO INSPIRE AND SUPPORT WRITING AND READING

Course Information:
An exciting and extensive unit of work, including a wealth of differentiated resources, media and computing, to develop reading and writing for LKS2 that are suitable for moderation assessments and Catch Up teaching

The unit will be based upon the text ‘Stone Age Boy’ which tells the tale of a boy who trips, falls and travels back in time to the Stone Age.  It will also contain an additional unit of introductory ideas that focuses upon the Stone Age period that provides background and context to the narrative and also serves as an independent mini unit.

There will also be some reference to extracts from the classic ‘Stig of the Dump’ for readers who need a more challenging text.

Participants will receive a unique unit pack in addition to extensive IT resources that meet the expectations of the new national curriculum and moderation assessments in a dynamic and stimulating manner, providing a fabulous collection of ideas and resources to accelerate, inspire and promote reading/writing progress.
