EYFS: Challenging Children’s Mathematical Thinking

  • To understand the importance of observation, assessment and planning in providing challenges to children’s mathematical learning.
  • To know how to create an environment that provides the opportunities to extend children’s mathematical understanding, developing problem solving and reasoning skills.
  • To understand the importance of the role of the adult in supporting and challenging children’s mathematical thinking in play.
  • To plan challenging mathematical activities for home learning.
Target Group The session is for teachers, TAs and support staff working in the EYFS
Special Requirements This course is run over two sessions in one day, 10.30 to 11.30am and 1.30 to 2.30pm. Participants must attend both sessions.
