At the end of this course, staff will be able to:

• Gain knowledge of what Adverse Childhood Experiences are and the part they in children’s outcomes and life chances
• Understand the basics of trauma theory and how it affects children’s brain development and impact on learning
• Understand the basics of attachment theory and how negative attachments can affect learning in the classroom
• Be aware of the ‘RETHINK’ approach to supporting children who have experienced trauma
• Be aware of the mental health difficulties that pupils may face and what we can do to support those pupils

Apply theoretical concepts to their own professional practice
