To understand how to teach the Junior Learning Letters and Sounds Phase 6 Programme.

If your school is using a Letters and Sounds SSP programme and doesn't have a Year 2 programme, you might want to consider Junior Learning Letters and Sounds Phase 6 for Year 2. This can be a supplementary resource as it is a standalone Year 2 teacher planner. It begins with a revision of all the alternative sounds taught in Year 1, ensuring the children in Year 2 have been taught the full alphabetic code and are confident with both reading and spelling. It then continues with a weekly focus on the following : Prefix - un, dis, mis, Suffix – s, es, ies, ing, ed, er, est, y, ly, ness, ment, ful, less, en , the past tense, homophones , contractions , How to use a dictionary and additional Spelling rules.
