Creating an enabling environment within a mainstream classroom with for pupils with SEND
This course will look at strategies that will help a range of children with autism, speech language and communication and attention needs to integrate into the classroom and developed both independence and engagement across the curriculum. This course is suitable for both class teachers and support staff and will be interactive and give the participants lots of practical ideas to take back to their classrooms.
Session 1- Creating an inclusive Classroom
The first session will look at how simple adaptions and visuals can be incorporated within your classroom to help children to successful integrate and access the curriculum, without the need for an extension or an extensive budget! This will include task planners, workstations, environmental adaptions and visual support.
Session 2- Communication, Engagement and Behaviour for learning
The second session will build on the use of workstations and visuals and give practical examples and strategies that both Teachers and Teaching Assistants can use to increase engagement and support pupil’s subject specific vocabulary and understanding.
