Overview

This session links to the Delivering Effective Interventions session. We recommend attending both sessions to get maximum benefit but sessions can be attended as stand alone.

This session considers ways in which pupils can work together both when working in a group, completing individual tasks and when working as a group on a collaborative activity.

Target Group This course provides practical strategies and reflective activities. The course is suitable for teaching assistants, learning support assistants and other classroom support staff who support learning in all settings and at all stages.
Course Content We will look at:
  • How you can support groups in subtle ways to ensure that the group retains ownership of the task and can manage itself effectively.
  • How to help pupils develop good group work skills, practised through collaborative activities.
  • The use of exploratory talk as a way of helping pupils understand how they interact with others and how this can effect group dynamics.
