Overview

This session links to the Promoting Effective Group Work session. We recommend attending both sessions to get maximum benefit but sessions can be attended as stand alone.

This session looks at the key issues in relation to how TAs are deployed to deliver intervention programmes for pupils who have fallen behind. It will clarify what interventions are and how they should be used, together with key features of successful programmes.

 

Target Group This course provides practical strategies and reflective activities. The course is suitable for teaching assistants, learning support assistants and other classroom support staff who support learning in all settings and at all stages.

  • what makes an intervention programme successful?
  • Fidelity to the programme
  • Subject knowledge
  • Assessment and record-keeping
  • Linking learning in intervention sessions with learning in the classroom
